The journey of a bus
The journey of a bus through the city is a veritable obstacle course. At the beginning of each trip, the bus driver pulls out of the layover area and starts an odyssey through the chaos of city streets. At every corner, a new surprise can delay the bus: a parked car blocking the stop, a red light that stops the bus as it pulls out of the stop, a longer-than-expected dwell as passengers fumble to pay the fare one at a time, the intense flow of pedestrians and bikes obstructing a right turn, gridlocked traffic, and much more.
Timetables undertake the unenviable task of balancing potential bus and tram running speeds against traffic unpredictability to provide passengers with realistic journey times.
